day 5: breakfast

Photobucket

Soo...breakfast today, huh? Let me tell you about this breakfast I made today. I thought it was pretty cool how it just happened to be today that I was to take a picture of our breakfast when I was already planning on making these sticky buns.

I found a recipe for Sticky Buns weeks ago. I searched high and low for the required "NOT instant", but rather cook and serve butterscotch pudding with zero success. Seriously, I went to 3 different stores searching and never finding "cook and serve" butterscotch pudding. Then I lost the recipe, found another recipe that said I could use vanilla cook and serve pudding instead, lost that recipe...(see how Pinterest can be useful? I now have a place to keep all of my recipes found online).

Anyway, back to the point. After all the finding, hunting, losing, and finding again, I finally made this recipe this morning. I was excited about them. When we sat down to eat them, my love and I were disappointed. They're missing something. Fortunately, Sweet P liked them, so it wasn't a complete bust.

As for the strawberries...sigh...They look good. They were sweet and ripe. But after being spoiled by the freshly picked by our own hands strawberries these last few weeks, strawberries from the store just don't quite cut it.

On the flip side, yesterday I strayed from my normal blueberry muffin recipe and made these. They were yummy, but it was the streusel that really made them. Without the streusel, I think they'd be lacking a little. On the other hand, they were fluffier than my normal recipe. Maybe I can tweak between the two recipes and come up with something fabulous. I guess I'll have some good opportunities now that blueberry picking season begins next weekend.

Now for a little shout out to those who have decided to join me on this little challenge. It's not too late to join!
