Two and a half weeks ago we ventured into totally un-chartered territory as first time parents...potty training.
I gotta say, it honestly hasn't been as bad as I feared it would be. We're not perfect as we have an accident here and there...but seriously, wow. We're thrilled. We have zero diapers in this house now...as in not even any pullups. Nothing. Even at night.

However, I learned a few things. So here's my list of things that nobody ever told me...
- I'd go through so many changes of clothes of my own those first few days.
- How many towels we'd go through.
- How many pairs of underwear we'd go through the first day and a half.
- Really, just how much laundry would be produced.
- How much your own personal attitude can make such a huge difference. If you think its going to be hard and that life is going to suck for the next few days...um...yeah, it pretty much will.
- How proud and excited the kiddo would be when she made it to the toilet in time--and us too.
- How treating yourself to a little something is also helpful. (Can I say "yeah, yeah" for my love picking up some Chipotle AND starbucks!?!?)
- How a stomach bug in the lower region can have such horrible timing, making life a wee bit messier--especially while on a mini-vacation...and after eating blueberries too. (Okay, I'll stop with that one.)
- How packing the
diaper...er...outing(?) bag changes a bit. - How proud Sweet P would be to tell her teacher "I no diapers. I wear big girl 'udderweer'!!!"
Oh, and like a friend of mine did to me, I highly recommend Lora Jensen's e-book on the 3 day potty training. With that being said though, you'll still find that you'll need to tailor it to your family style and kiddo.

Yeah for no diapers!! Go sweet pea :) I'd also like to add (from an accountant's perspective), one pair of underwear is cheaper than what you'd pay for one day's worth of diapers. So...if there's a particularly messy accident (like those caused by blueberries!), don't feel bad about pitching undies!
