Day 21: micro

Photobucket

I captured this one purely by accident. It was one of those shots that I was coordinating and getting things ready for when I was suddenly aware that the kiddo was quickly approaching...which was a bad thing because what you don't see is this beautiful tree that I have covered in purple flowers that was also covered in bees. So I pushed the shutter button, snagged the kiddo playfully, and hoped I caught what I had wanted. I lucked out.

update:

Tonight while I was finally getting around to my silhouette pictures, I went back over to my purple blooming, bee laden tree to snag a few pictures.

The tree is called a Shoal Creek Tree and it grows super fast. Its purple flowers look kinda similar to a butterfly bush which is so popular in this area, but its definitely a tree. The tree part almost looks similar to a crepe myrtle. Want to discuss anymore botany? ;o) Anyway, I didn't expect it to grow as quickly as it has and really wish I was able to see it 10 years from now. Its gonna be gorgeous.
