Yesterday we had a small blip of a snow storm with the idea that that would be all. Late last night I happened to catch a new weather forecast indicating that we'd be getting a little bit more snow starting at about 10am this morning. Ha! When we woke up at 7:30, we discovered a beautiful world of white and it was coming down hard. It was a beautiful and exciting moment for all of us. As we live in a state that just doesn't quite have it when it comes to "snow smarts" we decided to abandon our original Saturday plans and have a snow day.
We started by making some pancakes.
While making the pancakes, we decided to check out the current forecast. We were amused that everything we looked at all said "light snow and mist". Trust me, it was most definitely NOT light snow nor misty.
After breakfast, Sweet P was very eagerly awaiting going out to play in the fun white stuff. She just didn't quite get the concept of needing to get dressed. Cute shoes and footed jammies are enough, right?
Then we headed out to play in the snow and shovel off the driveway. I figured Sweet P wouldn't last too long out there but she surprised me. It was a beautiful snow. The flakes were huge and coming down fast and we all just loved every minute of it.
Afterwards, we came in and enjoyed some ham and cheese pockets I had made the other night and PW's Sherried Tomato Soup. So yummy.
In a short bit we're going to try our hand at making some hot chocolate made from scratch with some Dutch Cocoa we got for Christmas. Oh, and just a little side note, its amazing what a transformation using Dutch Cocoa makes when making chocolate cake. Wow! Seriously, totally not the same cake using Hershey's cocoa.
