daybook: 1-11-2011

My Daybook:

Currently, it is: Tuesday afternoon and Sweet P did not take a nap today. Sigh. Although I can't complain because she was content staying in her crib for an hour and a half and entertained herself. I suspected it would happen when I went to pick her up from school today and she was totally in the "put me down for a nap right now" zone with the rubbing of the eyes and tired face. Doesn't quite work when you still have a drive between the kiddo and her nap. Fortunately, I was able to get a bit more tackled on the basement organization while she played in her crib. Now we're cozied up on the couch together with the fireplace on and watching her latest favorite, Letter Factory, that she wants to watch all.the.time.

The weather: a cloudy 30 degrees with with the anticipation of snow. I've already witnessed a few flurries, but nothing of serious note just yet. Its not expected to be a super serious storm but people at the grocery store yesterday seemed to be on panic mode. Kinda funny.

Outside my window: Snow still covering the ground from last Saturday's snow.

I am thinking: How confused I am on what to do with the iTouch that I purchased that finally (don't get me started on Amazon disappointing me this past week) arrived on my doorstep this morning and Verizon and Apple FINALLY(!!!) announcing they were in fact releasing the iPhone through Verizon. So psyched but torn. Even though just before purchasing my iTouch, I went in knowing it sounded pretty good that this deal would happen, I figured I'd be fine without the phone capability--and it wouldn't hurt to save some cash every month. But then Verizon had to sweeten the deal with the $30 unlimited data plan. Sigh...gotta think this one through just a wee bit more.

I am thankful for: The last couple of months of my love being home! Crazy and weird. But so needed. I can't remember the last time that we've slept in the same bed, let alone state or country for that matter, this many consecutive nights.

From the kitchen: Racking my brain on what I want to make for dinner tonight. I'm craving soup--especially on a cozy winter day like today. But my love isn't a soup person like me (I could almost eat it every day of the week) and I may or may not have made soup three times in one week just a few weeks back. He might be on soup burn-out. But I'm thinking if I combine one of his faves, meatballs, and my love of soup, it could be a winner of a compromise, yeah?

I am wearing: dark blue jeans, a gray and white horizontally striped tank top (yep, I dare to wear horizontal stripes), my snow white fleece that my love loves, and my winter mammoth crocs.

On my "to do" list: Go to the post office. Ugh. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike this task? I have 6 packages that need to be mailed out and as usual I'm dragging my feet on going and just getting it done. I truly dislike the unknown cost factor and our post-man that works the counter is not...um...shall we say the friendliest? Ugh.

On my "accomplished" list (okay, almost): Nearly finished with my basement reorganization of 2011! I went to Goodwill today to drop off a car load of stuff. It always amazes me that even though I donate about a trunk full every couple of months, I still have another trunk full a few months later. It feels good to purge though. Now I just need to actually shred all the papers in the "to shred" box, drop off my car load of things going to the Habitat for Humanity Restore and figure out what to do with a great queen mattress and box spring. My back is just not the same since being pregnant with Sweet P so we had to get a new one. But I couldn't bear to trash the mattress since its in pretty good condition.

And lastly, a recent favorite pic: The Matty girl just soaking up some afternoon sun.
