Speaking again

Lesson learned.

When I begin to think I'm actually getting the hang of something, like a sewing machine, I need to think again.

I made the mistake of thinking I could whip out a super easy and fast project.

I was so wrong.

So wrong.

Instead, my sewing machine and I very nearly went into "ignore each other mode".

We had a bit of a communication breakdown.

It wanted me to do something one way, I chose to do it another.

It wanted me to tend to it and clean it; I didn't know I needed to.

It started yelling at me and messing everything up, I just grew more and more frustrated.

But eventually I started to listen to my machine as it was trying to communicate that it just wasn't happy with how I was treating it.

I eventually turned to this lovely thing called the "Owner's Manual".

Did you know that thing is loaded with lots of valuable information? You know, stuff like "How to clean and maintain your machine" or "How to fix the tension in either the top thread or bobbin thread" or even more simply "How to properly thread the needle of your machine" and "How to load the bobbin correctly". (Yup, I'm going to admit that all 4 of those topics were helpful today.)

So yeah, I'm most definitely not a pro. But I did learn a lot about my machine today. I think our relationship is on the mend, and I have to admit, I was pretty much all in the wrong on this one.

What amazes me is just how much this machine of mine put up with with all of my projects before throwing this fit.

  1. Lol! I'm no longer on speaking terms with my machine. It's completely my fault, it's not a great machine, but everytime I'm almost finished with a project it starts messing up. Grrr...
I'm glad to hear that you are tending to your machine. :-)
