Construction Paper Craft

I totally love to do things related to the current season or holiday, whether it be decorating the house, crafting etc.

Starting last year around Thanksgiving, we started doing construction paper crafts and each one of us made the classic turkey hand. We then displayed them on the inside of our front door.

We made flags earlier this summer for the 4th of July.

Last month, we made watermelons. Somehow I didn't take a picture of that one. :(

In honor of September, fall, harvest, going back to school, I chose "apples" to be the theme of our paper craft. The kiddo and I made paper apples with pom pom caterpillars this week.

I also introduced a glue stick to the kiddo this month. These things come in super handy for crafts with little ones who want to do it themselves (I learned that at the pre-school I worked at a few years back). **FYI, now that school is underway, they're on clearance, so stock up.**

I pre-made the caterpillars using hot glue and pom poms during the kiddo's nap. Then I used tacky glue to attach the googely eyes.

Then I placed large glue dots on the caterpillars and let the kiddo put them wherever she wanted onto the apple.

I think the caterpillars were the highlight of this project. ;o)

So yeah, very simple project, but lots of fun and endless possibilities. Plus, these kinds of projects will totally grow and adapt in skill level for a while.

Later this week we'll be heading to the orchard to pick some apples and make apple butter!
