It's me birthday!

So today just happens to be my birthday!

We had a bit of a blizzard this morning...at least by definition. We had a lot of wind and a good bit of snow. There were definitely some slick roads and white-out conditions as the kiddo and I headed to the YMCA for her last swim lesson this morning.

I liked it despite my being ready for spring. It just gave me that reminiscent feeling of birthdays past back home--especially the one when I turned five and we got home late because of the weather. I pitched a fit about still wanting my mom to make my birthday cake...and then when it was ready I then decided I didn't want any. She seriously won't let me forget that one.

I most definitely missed my love and wished he were here to spend it with me.

But I did get to talk to him over iChat this morning and then talk to him on the phone. Listening to his voice was oh-so-nice.

I made a cake for myself. I wasn't going to, but like I said, it snowed and I just had the urge. Oh man was it good.

...and dangerous.

Seriously, good idea or bad idea...make a chocolate cake completely from scratch while being the only one here in the house that eats cake.


Yes, my daughter still hates to be near cake. But she did discover that she likes the taste of the frosting.


I suppose the pups would be more than happy to help me take care of that cake. But I think we've had enough excitement with foods they shouldn't be eating since our raisin incident we had last weekend...thankfully unscathed.

Must find a way to give some of that cake away. :o) Any takers?
