A summer day trip that includes the beach

I had been looking forward to coming here ever since I heard about it late last spring. Sadly, it wasn't as cool as I had hoped it would be. Plus, it was kinda gross seeing so many people walking in without shirts (guys) and shoes! Seriously, bare feet! Totally disgusting considering there was so much fresh food (like bread unpackaged) and being in such tight quarters. I am thankful for our Fifer's up here and love its environment way more. Honestly, as I walked out, I looked on the door for the classic "no shoes, no shirt, no service" sign and sadly didn't see it. Although it probably would have been sadder if it had been there and didn't follow through.

Some sweet girl came over to us to ask if I needed any help in spreading out our towel. By this point, with the kiddo on my hip, I'd managed to get it how I wanted it, but I did ask her to take a picture to better document this occasion. Of course the kiddo has this expression on her face. :o)

Sand in the toes! This was after walking out to the surf. We were far back, but every so often the water would come tickle my toes. I put the munchkin's feet down on the hard sand so she could experience it and twice the water tickled her toes and she wanted nothing of it. I think part of it may have been that the water was fairly chilly.

Cute pic. She was a trooper with the hat. The wind had fun with it too, hence her hair bow tacking it down behind her head.

Yeah, I know she's been sitting for a couple of months now, but today we've graduated to the next level...she's no longer tri-pod sitting. She sits like a little kid. Plop her down and she'll pretty much stay sitting and if she starts to lose her balance she'll regain it. Absolutely fascinating to watch and exciting.

This was just too funny of a picture not to post. Look at that Elvis lip curl.

Notice the shape of her mouth? She's working on making "doe" "do-ip" sounds. This is a today thing. Oh(!) and I don't think it's intentional, (or maybe it is) but she has said "dada" several times now.

This camera case just keeps on capturing her attention and entertaining her for good stretches of time...even when its covered in sand...and it goes in her mouth (yuck!).

Little Miss exploring the sand a bit.

Ocean on one side of the parking lot.

The bay on the other side of the parking lot.

This is how close we were parked to the beach entrance...The fence is the little dune/beach entrance. Not a bad spot, huh? Plus, it was nearly empty when I arrived. Although the weather hasn't been the warmest I've ever experienced in the summer. Seriously, the last two nights I've needed a fleece when working outside in the garden after the kiddo has gone to bed. Weird. Doesn't feel like July.
