So yeah, I was brilliant in my decision to make my 24 week pregnant self run to the phone that was downstairs when I was upstairs just for the sake of answering before it went to voicemail. Then, I found an unexpected puddle of water that was left behind by the likely culprit of one of my dear pups. Down I went, landing only on my knee and hands (thankfully).
It hurt like the dickens and my knee bruised pretty decently. I so wanted to cry but was stunned and needed to just sit to make sure all else was well. During that time, my sweet little SweetPea came to my rescue and made me "all better" with bandaids. I thought I was fine and didn't want to call the OB clinic. But then I started to have some back pains and a few icky feeling twinges in my belly.
So the clinic sent me to the hospital and I soon found myself hooked up to the monitors and attached to a bed in the Labor and Delivery unit for several hours. I felt completely silly being there, but was told again and again that falls are to be taken very seriously--especially in the winter with so much snow and ice here.
Thankfully, all was well and it was really a non-event. The advantage was having some quiet thinking time to work on my Christmas shopping list that I need to get a start on since I have no clue what to expect with the arrival of this little one so close to prime shopping time.
I remember thinking at the end of the day just how much a day can differ from what was planned. Some days just carry the unexpected.
