project 52:32 | camping

Every year our squadron goes down to Seward (a small coastal town several hours south of us) for a camping trip. Last year when we arrived, we weren't formally checked into the squadron, were in the thick of unpacking, and well...it really just wasn't a good time for us to go camping.

This year though, we totally did it. We had a good time, but had to modify our camping just a bit because 1) I really didn't like the idea of trucking my preggo self into the woods or outhouse several times throughout the night 2) the idea of sleeping on the ground, again with my preggo body, didn't sound all that awesome and 3) the odds were pretty good that it was going to be rainy...which dealing with that in a tent is so not fun. So, we opted to rent an RV which is something we have never done before since getting married.

We had tons of fun and it was so awesome how we didn't have to stop even once to use the restroom since it traveled right with us! SweetPea absolutely LOVED our camping weekend and basically confiscated my sleeping bag declaring it as hers. I'm curious to see what her thoughts are going to be when we take her tent camping some day down the road.  I'm thinking we may have a tent camping adventure in our backyard before the end of the summer (which is oh so quickly approaching).

Despite the rain on Saturday and my favorite rain jacket that no longer fits with baby girl growing at a healthy rate, we enjoyed a fun, easy family hike to Exit Glacier.  SweetPea enjoyed seeing all the "ice" and thought the colors were neat.
