So a couple of weeks ago, my husband comes home from work and drops a bombshell on me...no worries, it was a good bombshell. He had some training that was sprung on him fairly last minute which just so happened to be in Hawaii of all places. So, considering how I've been sorely missing some real summer weather, he approached me with the idea of the kiddo and I joining him and just having to purchase tickets for ourselves. We also just so happened to be needing to use a companion ticket for $100, that matched whatever full price ticket we purchased...so really, we paid for one ticket. Honestly, it didn't take a whole lot to process and come to a conclusion that YES this was a fantastic idea. Fast forward 10 days later and we were on a non-stop flight all together as a family heading to beachy paradise. I was in heaven. The weather was 84 in the day with nice tradewind breezes and 73 at night. We lived it, loved it, explored it, and soaked it up. We returned home with a little more color, some fresh Hawaiian pineapple, and some tropical summer experience. Call me a happy Kaylie indeed.
To make it even better, the kiddo has been begging to go to the beach all summer long which has been a little odd to me considering she wasn't even 2 1/2 the last time she had been (before we moved here last summer). My goodness, never underestimate the ideas a child has. She really meant it and that kid LOVED the beach. We went every day we were there except the day we arrived.
One visit was at the end of the day and we decided to get some local food for dinner and bring it to the beach for a picnic followed by a quick bit playing in the sand and water. So fun, but we're so not used to how quickly it gets dark in normal places! The lighting in the sky threw us off nearly the entire time we were there and we felt like we were running late by a few hours (bear in mind, its still not dark at 11pm here in Alaska).
So yes, totally and completely happy and thrilled we were able to take advantage of such great circumstances and join my love on his training to Hawaii. I'd totally do this again in a heartbeat.
