project 52:1 | winter wonderland

I'm baaaaccckkk! I kind of had an unplanned break from blogging. I guess you could call it a spell of "hibernation". ;o)

Anyway, I am jumping back into the blogging scene after deciding I wanted to join in the fun and do a Project 52 for myself. I discovered Project 52 early last year from my friend WickedKate who also introduced me to Shawna over at Styleberry.

What is Project 52? Really, its anything you want it to be with the ultimate goal of posting a single picture for each week of the year. It can be super simple or you can have a theme of your choosing. Styleberry's Project 52 from last year was all about motherhood and it really sucked me in. I thoroughly enjoyed and was inspired by her project each week and am already looking forward to what she has in store for this year's project.

As for myself, I have chosen the theme: this is the stuff...(we're made of)

It'll be a little bit of everything to show who we are as a military family newly stationed here in Alaska...about us, our lives, our adventures, and "what we're made of". Loose, but with some direction.

So, off we go with the first installment!

I can't help but laugh when I think back 10 months ago. We found out we were moving to the place I had hoped and dreamed about for quite some time. I was ecstatic! A week later, my love came home and told me he had the official paperwork informing us of our upcoming move...but that we weren't moving to where we had originally been told. When he said "Alaska" I was stunned. I cried. I mourned the loss of my dream of living in the other place and struggled with the irony of just weeks prior coming to the conclusion that I could not survive the winter darkness of Alaska and therefore shouldn't live there. But little by little, I came to realize that this was going to be a perfect place for this Colorado girl to live. So now we're nearing 5 months here, in the thick of winter (and darkness), and I'm in love with this place. Its gorgeous. It's stunning. And it does a fine job of showing just how little I am.
