"we" brilliance

Yeah...this morning started like any other Saturday morning--no wait, scratch that.

We woke up before the kiddo (for once).

We had to pack into a car all the stuff that was ours (literally) because there was no place else for it to go since we're practically homeless now for the next month and moving over 5,000 miles away. We had a ton of odds and ends that seemed like it just kept multiplying and needed a place to sit for its car ride to Virginia.

We had a nice little chat with Dish Network at 8 o'clock in the morning. I really do mean "we" because I wasn't getting anywhere with the lady I was speaking to and my love took over and put his savvy skills to work and succeeded in getting things taken care of. (Awesome job, my love!)

We finally woke the kiddo up at 9am so that we could finally get on the road.

We dropped off a few random things to a friend and her kiddos and also got one more good-bye in with them.

We made a pit-stop at the post office (remember my dislike of the post office...so that just proves how limited we were on space) to mail a package to Colorado since it just would.not.fit in the car once we picked up the pups.

We finally hit the road--only 3 hours later than hoped for.

We had a bit of a texting frenzy going on with another family who also said good-bye to the same town/base we called home for the last few years and was also enduring the Bay Bridge traffic the same time we were.

During our short drive I realized a couple of forgotten miscellaneous items in the hotel. Nothing major. Just things like my Nalgene water bottle (replaceable), my chocolate covered pomegranate seeds (buggers), my Thai food leftovers (tragic, I tell ya).

Finally, we made it to Virginia.

Then we got a phone call...from base lodging. Dun-dun-dun...!

Guess what else we forgot...in the one and only drawer we used in the room the entire week we stayed there...and used A TON!...our collection of P90X DVDs and our laptop. Doh! Talk about a meeting of the palm to the face moment.

We felt like a couple of complete dorks.

Made me wish we could just re-do the morning, which in my emotional, "I'm moving and leaving our beautiful house that we brought our baby girl home to after becoming a family of 3" state wasn't good. But we couldn't.

{{Sigh.}}

My love's mom summed it up quite nicely though, and I think her words will stick with me for quite some time.

"It was just one of those days to remind you that you're human."

Perfectly said. And yes, once I sat and really let those words soak in, I realized that its true...I am human and prone to making mistakes--no matter how hard I try not to.

  1. So, are they going to mail the stuff to you? Hope the next day was better!
