colorado's awesomeness

Well, we're officially moved out of the house and here in Colorado for a couple of weeks for a pit-stop before continuing our move to Alaska. A nice little vacation, really, filled with a bit of family time, vacation time, some fun stuff, catching up with friends, helping out with some projects around my parents' house/yard/garden, etc. Good stuff, really.

I find myself repeatedly asking myself how on earth I missed all the gorgeousness Colorado had to offer while growing up here. Ever since arriving here on Monday, I've found myself marveling at the sky. It feels so much bigger, its constantly changing, the sun is much more intense feeling, the clouds that form throughout the day are stunning, etc. Seriously, its pretty stinkin' amazing.

Not to mention that the humidity is practically nothing (which makes a HUGE difference in how hot it feels), the bugs are far far fewer, and the shade really is much cooler.

Riding in my Daddy's truck east but had to capture a piece of the mountain /cloud scenery that was reflecting in the mirror making me smile. I missed the real shot that I wanted though, as we had just gone around that curve you see in the reflection.

Yeah, that storm coming over the mountains? Total tease. We got nothing from it but a bit of wind and a temporary temperature change. Need to brush up on typical Colorado weather expectations. :) At least it was fascinating to watch.

I had forgotten about the extra large dandelion puff balls that grow out here. It was intriguing and called for a few pictures to be taken.
Its kinda weird, but I really feel like I'm experiencing more summer here than I did back east. The kiddo is too. She's played outside in the garden, the dirt, the water. I've put her to bed as a little dirtball nearly each night and showered her in the morning because she's simply too tired to take a bath after dinner. I call that a summer day well spent.
