The weather: Gorgeous. I'm convinced that God is preparing us for Alaskan weather since we're having such a cool spring. It's currently in the low 70s, partly cloudy, a little breezy, and really just gorgeous. Honestly I'm a little hesitant about the weather we'll experience in Alaska. I'm not necessarily concerned about the winter weather. I'm more concerned about spring and summer. Funny, huh?
I'll explain. I love summer. I love heat. I love humidity. I love it all. I'm weird like that. Alaska doesn't really get hot. We won't have air conditioning. Temps in the 70s is what I've been told to expect for the highest of highs in the summer. (Gulp.) I know, ridiculous, right? My love is stoked. Those kind of temps are his definition of "perfect summer conditions". I'm sure I'll acclimate and I have no doubt we'll make it down south where I can experience a bit more "summer" sometime during our Alaska tour. Have no fear though, I'm super super excited about this next adventure.
Outside my window: Leaves on the trees, azaleas blooming, my knock-out roses are really getting ramped up and popping new roses daily, the smell of freshly mown grass as my neighbor is currently mowing her backyard (typically does it 3 times a week right now since her house is also for sale).
Our backyard landscaping labor is totally paying off because seriously, its beautiful out there. There aren't very many houses in our neighborhood that have this much, let alone maturing landscaping going on and you can bet that I'm taking pride and joy in it.
I am thinking: about how lucky and blessed I am to have such an amazing husband and daughter and such loving pups who showered me with sweetness yesterday on Mother's Day.
I'm also thinking about design worthy things regarding this little ol' blog...never ending, I say.
I am thankful for: a great workout at the gym this morning followed by an impromptu family lunch date.
From the kitchen: Pretty stinkin' clean kitchen we've got right now. Its been cleaned, shined, and gussied up for a couple of showings recently. Almost makes me not want to cook in it, but then what's the fun of having a "gourmet kitchen" if you don't use it?
My love came up with a perfectly fitting analogy the other day about selling your house. It's like getting ready for a first date. Put on your best face, accentuate all the positives, etc. I'm not going to go there on the "if we have to rent" front for the non-committal relationship portion of the analogy. ;o)
Anyway, coming back from the tangent, last night we didn't make dinner here. My love and Sweet P took me out to dinner for Mother's Day. We attempted to go to Cheesecake Factory, but despite being there before 5, the wait was 2 1/2 hours. Uh...no thanks. So we headed to California Pizza Kitchen where there was zero wait. Apparently I'm just not supposed to go to Cheesecake Factory on special Kaylie-related days. We tried to go on my birthday and had the same issue.
Tonight we're having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. One of the kiddo's favorites and by request of my love. He's still recovering from dealing with not-so-yummy food from his recent deployment/long trip (whatever you want to call it).
I am wearing: my workout clothes...periwinkle running shorts (love the name of that color...and the color), my white squadron spouse t-shirt that is honestly a bit too big for me as I got it when I was pregnant so that I had a t-shirt that I could wear while pregnant, and my gray long-sleeved Seekers t-shirt.
On my "to do" list: make dinner and play with the kiddo. Really a pretty nice and low-key day. Its kinda weird not feeling like I have this massive "to-do" list right now, although admittedly, I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something. I think I'm just going to enjoy this bit of quiet down time while I can because I have no doubt things are going to get crazy again soon. We are moving in a few months, after all.
On my "accomplished" list: Two house showings down, potentially another later this week. We went to our town's history festival on Saturday celebrating some of the fun cultural things this town has to offer, went to the base and enjoyed the new park opening celebrations, went to the orchards for some more strawberries, asparagus, and apple cider donuts topped off with a quick bit of fun at the petting zoo there. The kiddo was pretty interested in the baby goats.
And lastly, a recent favorite pic:
Apparently we've got a bit of a girly-girl on our hands as she loves wearing dresses and she refers to them as "tutus". This particular "tutu" was supposed to be her Easter dress, but since she was home sick that Sunday, we opted to wear it on Mother's Day. Anyway, I love the expression on her face of determination, fun, and mischief. I also love the breeze blowing through her gorgeously long "Hollywood" hair.

Cute dress! You can come visit us anytime you want - it's been 90 the past few days (though the pool is still freezing!!)
