We wanted west.
We got west.
As in waaaaay west.
And north.
Waaay north.
Completely unexpected.
We were aware of an upcoming assignment and that we'd be going elsewhere. But it wasn't "official" yet. So we waited on saying anything. But it didn't stop me from researching, planning, and dreaming.
Ah, but yes, Rule #1 in the military, don't believe it 'til its on paper.
Rule #2, even then, still be prepared for an unexpected change.
For now, we've got paper, so here we go.
Lots to do. Lots to figure out.
A house to sell. (Anybody wanna buy it?)
A place to find to call home.
A long, as in super looonngggggg drive to prepare for...with two dogs...and a two year old. Umm...yeah. Anybody want to come along to entertain a kiddo for a 5,000+ mile car ride? Anybody? Anybody? (I think I hear crickets...I don't blame ya.)
Well, here we go...Alaska bound we are!

Wow! That's where you were hoping to end up, right? Hope the packing/selling goes well! I do not envy your trip, though!
ReplyDeleteTotally am recommending Weichert Realtors (particularly a realtor named Cheryl August).....stay FAR away from Remax! Can't believe you are going to be in ALASKA!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing, Kaylie! You must be overwhelmed. When's the move? We just found out that friends of ours from church are also PCSing to Alaska in October. They are a great family and have two adorable kids. We will definitely have to get you hooked up together!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you might also consider shipping a car(s) and flying. I hear it is well worth it!
ReplyDeletewe did the drive both to Anchorage and back and it wasn't too bad. We just broke it up a lot. You can only ship one car and it is WELL worth the money you make to drive the other one. :O) I enjoyed Alaska but was so ready to come home! Let me know if you wanna chat about it! debi
