Project Life: Weeks 1 and 2ish

So I'm so totally not one to do scrap-booking type of things. In fact, I almost avoid it like the plague. It's really just not my thing. I find nothing wrong with other people doing it, it just never really interested me.

But over this past year I have repeatedly found myself looking back through our pictures of the last year and marveling on how much has changed with our little girl, our lives, and our house. I'm amazed at how much has changed.

Then I came across this idea called
Project Life by Becky Higgins after reading about it on Jessica Turner's blog: The Mom Creative. At first, I, as usual, glossed over it. But then it hit me, this project would be perfect for me to do.

This project is flexible in allowing me to do a picture a day (the original intent) or I can stray and do it however else I please. But the part that really appeals to me is how easy it is to get something pretty cool for the end result whether it be minimal effort in just doing the project as designed or even better by putting a little more creativity into it. It is all totally flexible and I like flexibility--especially with as busy as things get around here.

Of course, since I jumped on this a little on the late side and because of some other issues, I still have yet to even order the project. But soon soon it will be available to purchase on Amazon. But there's nothing saying I can't go ahead and start working on this project now considering I need to take pictures daily.

So, in addition, I figured I would join in
Jessica Turner's Project Life blog party that she will be hosting every Tuesday. Not only will this help keep me (and others) current on their project, but also maybe inspire new ways of approaching the project. So, here's my first post in the project. It's a little longer than normal since I'm starting on the day after Christmas when my love headed out on deployment. In the future, my plan is to post only a week long period.

26 December 2009

Grabbing a few last moments with Daddy at the airport before he heads off on another deployment.

27 December 2009
Beginning the first of several "quick" projects around the house with my Dad.

28 December 2009
Another project...we made the kiddo's closet much more useable by adding new shelving! (The left side has the heating duct making it unuseable for hanging clothes...so we added shelves instead.)

29 December 2009
The Bob (stroller) has a new home now too!

30 December 2009
Finally! The Roman Shade dilemma has been solved and is now hanging where it should be.

31 December 2009

Playing a few games of marbles with mom and dad on New Year's Eve.

1 January 2010

Eating lunch at Pat's Pizza with Amma and PawPaw. The kiddo is wearing PawPaw's hat.

1 January 2010 (cont'd)
Saying goodbye at the airport to Amma and PawPaw and really getting into "deployment mode". But in just a few short weeks we'll be heading out to Colorado for a visit of our own!

4 January

Where's the kiddo's spoon? While enjoying an afternoon snack and talking to Daddy on Skype, the kiddo lost her spoon. I couldn't resist taking a picture to show where it was. :)

5 January

A very much needed pick-me-up lunch date with my dear friend A! This was after a rough morning and feeling like one of the worst mommies in the world.

5 January (cont'd)

A little dinner making music.

7 January

Who would have guessed that the ice cream that can only be purchased in the south in the US would be found randomly at a non-American associated grocery store in the Middle-East? Not only was it Blue Bell, but it was Blue Bell's Banana Pudding!

8 January
Ha! Our "snow" that ridiculously closed the schools! Seriously! It was maybe 1/2 an inch--but that's a real generous stretch. You would almost think we lived in the south and never saw snow. Seriously, the snow plows were even out on the roads with their plows up because there wasn't anything to plow off the road.

8 January (cont'd)

The kiddo playing with the snow. Okay, so more like she's a little unsure of it.

...hey! This is actually pretty neat stuff! Can I eat it?

9 January
The kiddo is "helping" me unpack the groceries from our commissary trip. (Oh, and here's a REAL thing for ya...If you didn't notice, the kiddo is wearing the same sweatshirt from the day before. To my defense, I put this sweatshirt on her very late the day before and figured it would be okay to wear the next--especially since it was cold. Now, I'm somewhat embarrassed, but I'm being real.)
