Since Day 1, the munchkin has flat out refused a pacifier let alone a bottle. Not such a bad thing all things considered as we don’t have to ween her off of a pacifier later on down the road. But there were definitely a few times we wished she could find some soothing in sucking on a pacifier those first few weeks.
Anyway, last weekend we had a particularly bad afternoon full of crying from an extremely over-tired baby despite my attempts at preventing it. When it escalated, my good friend/neighbor Theresa suggested we take the kiddos out for a walk...even if it only provided relief for me (which it most assuredly did). Eventually, say 20 minutes or so into it, the munchkin discovered her thumb, calmed herself, and finally fell asleep. As the following week wore on, she returned to sucking on her thumb as she started to get tired.
Yesterday (Friday, May 22), after a nice run (for me) and nap/ride (for the kiddo) I found her sucking on her thumb. Too cute. I really hope this doesn’t become a bad habit in the future though.
