This was yet another week of "this isn't normal for Alaska" in regards to the weather. See what I mean about constantly hearing this? :)We had a ton of rain making the ground even soggier, tons of wind blowing more trees down and the gorgeous yellow leaves away, and just that sense of staying comfy cozy in your own home out of the yuck. I don't mind the rain or cloudy days quite so much. The wind though, totally different story. I'm talking serious wind that was blowing trees down, resulting in power outages (yes, we experienced one of those--but only one), even gusts blowing semi trucks over. Is it slightly ridiculous that seeing downed trees in yards, driveways, and streets is becoming so common it doesn't have you staring in disbelief anymore? This was the third storm of this type in two weeks.
Anyway, so this morning, I got to sleep in...which was much deserved after staying up late tending to a sick kiddo. When my eyes opened, I was greeted with the glorious blue sky and sun rising up over the mountains. It would've been the perfect day to head out to the farm to pick vegetables with our MOPS group...but yeah, kiddo was sick. However, despite still having a bit of a fever, congestion, and little appetite, she was game for heading outside for a little photo shoot. We took a little longer at the grocery store getting a couple of necessities and it was time for lunch and quiet time. By this point, the clouds were starting to roll in. As we were pulling out of the garage after quiet time we were greeted with the sound of rain drops falling on the car.
Sigh...
Then I chuckled at how we were prepared anyway as I had grabbed kiddo's rain jacket as we were heading out the door and she had chosen to wear her rain boots. We decided to seize the opportunity of the pretty fall colors, only slight rain, and no wind. We enjoyed ourselves, crawled up on the big rocks, and played in the "sticky mud!" SweetPea of course had to bring her camera too (its my old Holga box camera from my film days) to take pictures too.
