Well, okay, let me re-phrase that, some of us have arrived. My love and my dad are still making the trek up here with the car and pups.
A few thoughts so far:
My first glimpse of Alaska was jaw dropping gorgeous. When we were told to "stow our electronic devices" as we were preparing to land, I opened up the window shade. Wow. The mountains, the inlet, and the sun setting were amazing and something I so wished I had taken a picture of to share in my first view of Alaska.
The spiders are big...and creepy...and Texas sized...(er, Alaska sized?). (ick)
I know its supposed to get dark later in the night during the summer...but since we arrived in mid-August (ie: the later part of summer) I didn't think we'd really get to experience the fun of that. I was wrong. Its nearly 10 now and I still see real blue sky.
Its green out here. And wet. I'm glad I have a good rain jacket. I think I'm going to be using it a lot.
There are mountain views everywhere!
I'm seriously feeling like we've won the lottery by being stationed here.
Totally ready to be done living in a suitcase. I'm ready to have "home" again. Soon though. Friday our stuff will be delivered to our house, and then the unpacking fun begins!

i tried to comment on my phone earlier, but i guess it didn't go through! i love the pictures and post... keep it up! i can't wait to hear about all of your new adventures! EM
