Magnetic Felt Turkey

Remember my little magnetic felt pumpkin I did last month for Halloween? Well, I was inspired to do a little something similar for Thanksgiving.

Sweet P loved playing with the pumpkin a lot, but it wasn't exactly up to par for a toddler. That magnetic sheet stuff I mentioned using last time, was great for peeling and sticking right on to the felt. Unfortunately, it was not so good with an inquisitive little mind learning about the world around her. The magnetic pieces were constantly being pulled off of the felt by the kiddo, much the same way she plays with stickers. Kinda a "duh" moment for me.

Anyway, this time I put a little bit more effort into it and totally have something that stands up to the kiddo. I have a front and back piece of felt with actual magnets glued inside. Then I just stitched around the edges. For the feathers (the fun movable pieces) I added a piece of paper bag from the grocery store in between the two pieces of felt for a little bit of stability to keep them from being floppy. Worked like a charm and the kiddo loves it.

Now I've got to come up with something fun and Christmas-y. ;o)

*edit: Just for fun, I thought I'd join in on tatertots & jello's weekly linky party. There's always a ton of fun things people share every week through her party and I'm constantly inspired.
