Table complete!

Eee!!! I'm so excited! On a total whim I discovered this little diamond in the rough at Goodwill a few weeks ago for $5! After a ridiculous debate with myself on whether I could actually make this pretty or not, I finally decided that it really was only $5 and that it was worth the risk.

Having no real prior experience with doing anything like this, I plowed ahead. I learned a couple of things along the way but more importantly I really had a good time doing it and am so looking forward to another project.

So here's a couple of before shots. It was kind of in rough shape, but nothing a good bit of sanding couldn't take care of. In fact, it was only one afternoon nap for the kiddo.

I decided to remove the little curved feature you see by the legs attached to the underside of the table top to give it a more modern touch (see above picture).

I bought a nifty little sander which was a really smart thing considering using that it still took me a couple of hours to sand down.

Sanding complete!

And so...here it is! This is my completed table! My first big furniture makeover!

This last shot shows the table minus those curved features I wrote about earlier in the post. Nice, huh? Man, I sound so full of myself right now, but seriously, I'm totally psyched about how this turned out.

Oh, and in honor of my completed project, I have decided to link up to Mustard Seed Creations: Furniture Feature Friday and A Soft Place to Land's: DIY Day.

  6. What a difference! You really did an amazing job with a dated piece of furniture that most people (including me) would've passed by. Great vision for what that table could become. Good for you and thanks for linking up!

  10. So nice to meet you, via Ms. Mustard Seed! I adored her posting on your table and had to come say hello!

You've enspired me, I'm going to stop by the Goodwill at lunch time. There is one right down the street from my office and I've never even been in there (when I donate, they come to home to pick up). I go to auctions alot but never see anything even close to $5!!. This is a beautiful piece.
